This album contains the extraordinary 'Come away, come away'... an epic 18-minute romantic love song, and an ode to the woman whom Asher would marry. This is a much requested song by afficionados of Asher's music, partly because it contains a sung proposal of marriage later in the song. The ballad is, as indeed the whole album itself is, a mixture of instrumental and vocal, and was co-produced with Phil Thornton. The title track 'Fiery Moon' is instrumental here, because New World Music in their wisdom requested that the courtly eroticism of the lyrics be held back, as they felt that their listeners were 'not quite ready for it yet'! "I've had a song banned," exclaimed Asher, "how punk!" There is a further ode to his future wife, 'Kitiana', set in the Devon fishing village of Appledore.

The cover artwork is by the French mystical artist Odilon Redon. Asher picture researched all his own album covers from his debut album Open Secret in 1987, through to Field of Stars in 1994. After that, New World Music changed hands and this option was no longer available. 'Fiery moon' was finally released with its courtly, 'erotic' lyrics, on High Planes Music in 2007. The lyrics in question were: "My Beloved, I can feel you inside, like a fireburst of flowers swaying... swaying to the moon... the fiery moon"! The track 'In love' was used by French film-maker Michel Houellebecq in the soundtrack to  La possibilite d'une ile, made in 2008.
